Rovers. Kenny Dalglish recognised the young 'keeper's talent
and brought him to St. James' Park in 1997. At the time, Given was a
promising 21 year old and today, at the age of 24 he is United's
Number 1 Goalkeeper.
Highlights of the 99/00 season: Appearing
in the starting line-up in 14 Premiership games, despite his injury,
but losing the competition to his team mate Steve Harper, the goalie,
who showed quite good keeping in his 17 games.
Predictions: Shay will establish himself as N.1 and will
start in all Newcastle games in the next seasons. He will become one of
the best 'keepers in The British Isles, but will stay with the club
